Hi, I'm Farah and welcome to my blog!


I started this blog initially when I started the Atkins diet. As a vegetarian I'd looked around lots of resources for low carb food which was vegetarian as well and had little success, nearly all low carb blogs etc were focused around meat/fish. I however, not only don't eat meat or fish, but also am particularly passionate about local, homegrown food (grown by me wherever possible), and food that not only tastes amazing, but that also looks delicious. I dabbled simultaneously with the VB6 (vegan before 6pm) way of eating and while I no longer do this, I do eat a lot of plant based (vegan) food and as such many of the recipes you will see on here are vegan, or can be easily adapted to be vegan. Since then I have lost over 3 stone following this way of eating but still have around 1.5 stone left to go. I won’t lie, it’s got more difficult and as such I sometimes mix things up and try other diets (usually ridiculous fad ones), and share the results here.  

In addition, lots of the recipes that I did find had either ingredients that I hadn't heard of or couldn't easily find , carbquick, or spaghetti squash anyone?? I wanted to create a little space where I could document all the recipes I'd tried, and also where I could have a little chat/rant when there was no one around to listen...

Hope this is helpful to people and I would love to hear how other people are doing and would also love to hear your recipes and ideas too!

Vatkinary is updated weekly and focuses on healthy, delicious, low carb vegetarian food. Vatkinary historically focused on recipes that I either developed or found elsewhere, however it is currently evolving to display a stronger lifestyle element.

Gifting

Subject to approval, I accept gifted product samples from PRs and brands, provided they are a natural fit with the ethos of the blog. In all circumstances I reserve the right not to feature the item. Where gifts are featured this will be denoted by a * next to the name the first time it is mentioned.

If you do wish to send me an item to be featured, this will may happen in any given context and may appear either on the blog or on social media. I rarely do fmal product reviews but may do when they are particularly relevant to the blog. More usually, products will be featured in the context of a wider recipe or lifestyle feature. I will also link to the product, and this link may be an affiliate link. I will also link to the post on my social media platforms.

I am open to placing sponsored posts, though only when working with brands that are relevant to my blog content and ethos and who will engage my audience.
